Ákos Brunner
I work on ancient philosophy, especially metaphysics and ethics, the Hellenistic schools, Plato and later Platonism. I have translated into Hungarian Plato's First Alcibiades (2005), and participated in the editorial work of Hungarian editions of Aristotle's On soul and On heaven (2006 and 2009 respectively). From 2003 I am PhD student at the Philosophy Department, CEU. In 2005 and 2007 I taught seminars on Hellenistic philosophy and Plato's dialogues at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. From 2007 September to 2010 August I worked as young research fellow at the Institute for Philosophical Research of the Hungarian Academy of Arts and Sciences. My PhD thesis (defended in 2010) explores Cicero's presentation of Stoic ethics in his On ends and the possible effects of this presentation on our understanding of early Stoic theory.
