The Department of Philosophy offers Master and Doctoral level education up to the standards of the best international institutions, in the Central and Eastern European region. The MA program offers an intensive study of all the major fields in philosophy, with the possibility of deeper acquaintance of a chosen field. The main objective of the PhD program is to train professionals who will be prepared to undertake academic careers, as researchers or university teachers.
The programs promote a scholarly attitude which combines historical and analytical approaches in philosophy. The curriculum is designed so that students are required to study each of the major fields of contemporary philosophy. A specialization in the history of philosophy is also available, including the possibility of specialization in ancient philosophy. Thus, it is envisioned that the alumni will have the rare ability to conduct a dialogue across the dividing lines occasionally fragmenting the philosophical dispute.
